Fujifilm XF 8mm F3.5 R WR

Fujifilm XF 8mm F3.5 R WR

The Fujinon XF 8mm F3.5 R WR is an ultra wide-angle (UWA) prime lens and has the widest field of view within Fujifilm’s range of XF lenses for X Series cameras. It offers a viewing angle of 121 degrees diagonally and 112 degrees horizontally.

Although we humans also have a large and wide field of view, the effective and active perceptible viewing angle for an average person is limited to only 60 degrees. The field of view for this UWA 8mm lens captures information from an area that is approximately twice as large as the effective visual field of view of a human. This makes it the ideal choice for photographing vast areas landscapes.

The focal length of 8mm is equivalent to 12mm compared to the 35mm film format, giving this lens the widest angle of view within Fujifilm's range of XF lenses, as well as producing an image with edge-to-edge sharpness without distortion along the edges or in the corners.

The resolving power of this UWA lens is large and with a high level of detail. Branches, leaves or a vast wilderness, every detail is captured very precisely. But also consider decorative details in a cathedral or temple.

The compact design of this lens makes it highly portable, allowing users to enjoy UWA photography without having to carry a heavy lens in their bag.

The lens consists of twelve lens elements arranged in nine groups, including three aspherical elements and two ED elements.

The typically short focus group movement distance of an ultra-wide-angle lens combines with the use of an Inner Focus system to achieve a very fast AF speed of just 0.02 seconds. This is particularly useful in action photography that uses the UWA perspective. As a wide-angle lens, which typically has a greater depth of field, the aperture can be closed to facilitate pan-focusing.

The lens is sealed in ten places to ensure moisture, dust and weather resistance and can operate in temperatures as low as -10°C. The front lens element has a fluorine coating to repel water and provide protection against smudges. This means users can take photos with confidence in all conditions, including the photographing landscapes in light rain or in dusty places, as well as taking snapshots and travel photography.

The XF 8mm F3.5 R WR is 52.8mm long, weighs just 215g and uses the popular 62mm filter size. This is ideal because of the wide availability of various filters that can be easily placed on this lens.

The XF 8mm F3.5 R WR is added to the range of Fujinon XF lenses that are suitable for the light and compact X Series system cameras.
