Fujifilm X-E5, a compact and light system camera

Fujifilm X-E5, a compact and light system camera

The Fujifilm X-E5: a compact and light system camera that combines a distinctive classic style with modern technology. The X-E5 is the latest model within the X Series and will be available from August 2025 in black and silver.

With a weight of 445 grams (including battery and memory card), the Fujifilm X-E5 is a light and portable system camera, intended for use in a variety of situations. For the first time, the top plate is made from a single piece of milled aluminum, which ensures a sturdy housing and a sober, finished appearance.

The X-E5 features Fujifilm's latest image sensor and processor: the 40.2-megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5 HR and the X-Processor 5. This combination makes it possible to shoot at high resolution while retaining dynamic range and strong ISO performance. ISO 125 is now standard, and the electronic shutter supports shutter speeds of up to 1/180,000 second, which is especially useful in bright light or situations requiring precise exposure control.

New in this series the built-in 5-axis image stabilization system. This provides up to 7 stops of compensation in the center of the frame (6 stops at the edges), which helps when shooting handheld or at slower shutter speeds.

The X-E5 features a new film simulation button with three programmable modes (FS1–FS3), allowing you to quickly switch between your own preferred settings. The electronic viewfinder has also been adjusted: the 'Classic Display' mode shows settings in a sober, analogue way, at the bottom of the image.

The camera has a compact design and is suitable for one-handed operation. The buttons and dials are logically placed, allowing intuitive operation. The 'Surround View' function shows parts of the image outside the chosen frame, similar to an optical viewfinder.

Although the design matches previous models in the X Series, the finish is sleeker and more functional. The X-E5 is aimed at photographers who value simplicity and control, whether they are experienced or switch from smartphone to system camera.

Finally, the X-E5 has a tilting screen that rotates up and forward by up to 180 degrees, which is useful for low viewpoints or self-portraits. The digital teleconverter (1.4x and 2.0x) enables flexible framing with limited loss of quality.

The camera also offers extensive options in the field of video. Filming can be done in 6.2K at 30 frames per second. The autofocus uses deep learning and recognizes people, animals, vehicles and drones, among other things. The focus remains accurate, even in low light or fast-moving subjects.

Price and availability

The Fujifilm X-E5 is available and has a suggested retail price of € 1,419 silver and black, or in combination with Fujinon XF 23mm f/2.8 Pancake for € 1,619.
