Three new Canon RF lenses

Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM Z, Canon RF 50mm F1.4L VCM and Canon RF 24mm F1.4L VCM

Canon is expanding its RF series with three new lenses, part of a growing L-series of primes and zooms for the EOS R system. The RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM Z, RF 50mm F1.4L VCM and RF 24mm F1.4L VCM form a new generation of hybrid optics, equipped with essential video features such as a smoothly adjustable iris ring with a circular aperture of 11 blades, excellent performance in low light and minimal focus breathing.

RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM Z lens

The RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM Z lens offers photographers and videographers a reach that bridges the distance between close and far, making it suitable for sports, wildlife, news and hybrid shooting where flexibility is key.

Professional features such as electronic parfocal focusing, focus breathing suppression and servo zoom, accessible via optional Power Zoom Adapters, increase precision.

The built-in 5.5-stop Optical Image Stabilizer and a specially designed iris ring enable smooth aperture control.

With compatibility for Canon's RF extenders and the option of wireless control via various Canon apps for studio work and field recording.

The interface also supports the Zoom Servo Grip, which enhances ease of operation for both zoom and focus in professional setups.

RF 50mm F1.4L VCM lens

The RF 50mm F1.4L VCM lens provides a natural perspective, close to that of the human eye, delivering sharpness and image quality. Ideal for portraits, reportages and weddings in low light, this lens adds a cinematic dimension to video recordings.

With forty percent less weight than the RF 50mm F1.2L USM, this is an attractive option for those looking for a light, fast prime lens.

RF 24mm F1.4L VCM lens

The RF 24mm F1.4L VCM lens, about twenty percent lighter than its EF predecessor, offers ideal options for landscapes, architecture and interiors, plus environmental portraits, with its wide angle of view. Suitable for film and video interviews, the lens joins Canon's hybrid prime range, which is more convenient to use in video rigging.

The RF 50mm F1.4L VCM and RF 24mm F1.4L VCM, equal in size to the RF 35mm F1.4L VCM, offer a fast f/1.4 aperture for optimal low-light performance. With Nano USM and Voice Coil Motor technology, the lenses have fast, quiet autofocus. Designed with high-quality L-series materials and featuring water-resistant sealing and fluorine coating, they are robust in challenging conditions. while a dedicated Lens Control Ring, Iris Ring and customizable Lens Function Button provide advanced levels of personalized control.

Prices and availability

The new Canon lenses will be available from November. The RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USMZ in white or black for a suggested retail price of €3,659.99, the RF 50mm F1.4L VCM for €1,619.99 and the RF 24mm F1.4L VCM for €1,779.99.
