Canon introduces the RF 45mm F1.2 STM as an interesting addition to the RF range. It is Canon’s first non-professional-grade lens with an f/1.2 aperture and, at only 346 grams, is surprisingly lightweight. The lens is intended for photographers who enjoy working with shallow depth of field and expressive low-light images without immediately investing in the premium segment.
The large aperture allows creative control over the background, while the silent STM autofocus ensures smooth focusing for both stills and video.

The 45mm lens has a metal mount, separate focus and control rings, a filter size of 67 mm and focuses as close as 45 cm. The 9-blade aperture and compatibility with focus breathing correction contribute to natural-looking images.
Together with the EOS R6 Mark III, the RF 45mm F1.2 STM represents a logical next step in the expansion of the EOS R system. Canon is clearly targeting photographers who want greater creative freedom in a compact and accessible setup.
