AXSTXRDXM is photographer Ewout Huibers’s first photo book. Huibers previously contributed to the photo books Amsterdam, a Metropolitan Village and Below Sea Level. This new self-published volume consists entirely of his own photography.
One photographer, four seasons, thousands of canals, streets, squares, and parks—and ever-changing weather.
Huibers: “The book opens with an artwork of mine: a unique view of the Sail parade. In this foldout black-and-white panorama, I managed to capture five hours of the Sail parade in a single photograph. I also photographed countless remarkable places during numerous walks through Amsterdam.
There are few people in my photographs. I believe this allows the beauty of the city in different seasons and weather conditions to come into its own.”

As a resident of the city and as a photographer, I instinctively seek out beautiful, quiet places and moments. There are still plenty of them. I focus on the built environment, with its fantastic architecture and on nature, which is sometimes more varied here than in the countryside around Amsterdam.
The texts accompanying the photographs were selected because they inspire me. I hope my book offers Amsterdam enthusiasts in the Netherlands and abroad a view that is both recognizable and fresh.”

Ewout Huibers has worked as an independent photographer for almost twenty years. He specializes in interior and architectural photography and works throughout the Netherlands and abroad for a range of clients.
