For me, photography is a connection of light, line and form, and the passion to capture it.
Jan Duker is a professional photographer in Rolde. In his corporate work, he focuses on business portrait photography, corporate photography and video, architecture and interior photography. His personal landscape photography also clearly shows the way he looks: with attention to simplicity, calm, timelessness and subtle details.
His way of working is restrained and careful. Jan takes the time to look, prefers to work slowly rather than hurriedly, and regularly returns to the same places to get to know them better. In his landscape work, he uses filters and long exposures to create minimalist images that show not only what a place looks like, but above all how that place feels.
He brings that same attention to atmosphere, composition and connection into his photography for clients. Whether it is a portrait, a company, an interior or a landscape, Jan looks for images that invite the viewer to linger for a moment. Subtle, calm and respectful of subject and surroundings.
In preparation
The Alfa College in Groningen, designed by AAS Architects, is one of the photographs in the series Distinctive Buildings in Groningen. The building’s clean lines and beautiful details immediately caught my eye.
Together with the staircase in the foreground, the shapes and lines form a balanced composition. This is further emphasized by the black-and-white treatment and the clouds above the building.
