Photographs that not only show what is happening, but above all what it feels like.

About the photographer

Heleen Klop has been taking photographs since childhood and started working as an independent photographer in 2009. After studying at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht and working as a project manager in construction, she increasingly chose photography, initially photographing families and later focusing mainly on weddings and documentary reportages. She has worked with her husband, Wim Blom, since 2014, and they have formed a full-time photography duo since 2017. Heleen is often more present in the foreground, while Wim captures much of what happens in the background. That combination suits their way of working: close enough to notice genuine moments, yet calm enough to let the day unfold naturally.

Her photography is centred on genuine emotion, spontaneity and a relaxed atmosphere. Heleen does not look for perfect poses, but for images in which people recognise themselves. She observes, anticipates and tells the story of a day naturally, with attention to small details, connection and emotion. This makes her especially well suited to couples who want to experience their wedding day without constantly thinking about the camera. She enjoys working with couples who allow space for a genuine reportage, without a fixed shot list or a forced, picture-perfect result.

Personal attention is central from the first contact through to final delivery. She takes plenty of time beforehand to get to know the couple and discuss their wishes. She creates a calm, relaxed atmosphere, offers guidance only when needed, and captures genuine moments as they naturally unfold. Afterwards, she selects and edits the photographs with great care and delivers a timeless reportage in a clear online gallery. Heleen is also happy to advise on a luxury album or wall art, so the memories do not remain only digital but are given a beautiful place in the home.

Photo with a story

Heleen Klop

The kissing couple: I had met them 10 years earlier in Dublin, where I photographed their love shoot at Dublin Castle. They had met there at work, at an international company. After 9 years, they messaged me to say that they had moved from Dublin to Singapore and then to the Netherlands, and that they were getting married in France that summer, for their 10-year anniversary. It became a 3-day celebration at a beautiful, atmospheric old château, with many international friends, including former colleagues, and family from all over the world.

There was a Chinese tea ceremony, a 1st look, a wedding ceremony with a violin-playing celebrant, cocktail hour before the ceremony, a grand entrance and the couple’s 1st dance, an elaborate dinner at long tables under the trees with speeches, cake with fireworks, Bollywood dancing, a DJ with saxophonist, and more fireworks. The next day, everyone relaxed by the pool and there was a brunch with a Japanese food truck. So delicious!

What stayed with me most was how warm and joyful it all felt, with so much love for one another and every language mingling together. Despite having to rearrange the schedule, moving chairs into the shade ourselves at the last minute, beads of sweat and changing outfits 5x for the bride and groom, it became a wedding never to forget. These were days of almost 40 degrees and very hot cameras, but I enjoyed every minute.

This section will be added later. We ask the photographer to choose a special photograph and tell the story behind it. Until then, you will see an image from the current profile here.
