Vincen Beeckman – Parade
Vincen Beeckman explores carnival as a story of identity and belonging. His photographs are shown alongside artworks and stories contributed by Breda residents.

Who would you like to be? This question runs through Parade. Working with a range of communities in Breda, Vincen Beeckman explored the meaning of carnival and related traditions. Participants from care homes and neighbourhood art studios contributed their own ideas, artworks and stories.
Beeckman's photography reveals both human vulnerability and the resilience of communities. His research took him from local community centres and Breda's carnival parade to carnival in Curaçao. Celebrations, costumes and gatherings become a way of looking at differences and the things that connect people.
The museum exhibition is part of BredaPhoto but remains on view after the festival ends.
