Thinking Hands
What do your hands know that you cannot put into words? Thinking Hands brings together photography, video and installations exploring the knowledge held in the body.
A hand can make something, care for someone or give emphasis to a story. Thinking Hands focuses on knowledge that develops through touch, movement and doing. As digital systems increasingly think and choose on our behalf, the exhibition draws attention to what the body knows.
Photography plays an important role alongside video and installations. Featured artists include Koos Breukel, Paul Kooiker and Robin de Puy / Strijbos & van Rijswijk. Their varied approaches explore how gestures, materials and physical work acquire meaning.
The exhibition is curated by Musoke Nalwoga and Roosje Klap.
