Rob Hornstra – Plastic Sea, Perfect Storm

In Plastic Sea, Perfect Storm, photographer Rob Hornstra and writer Arnold van Bruggen examine life behind the greenhouse industry in southern Spain. Their work centres on migrant workers whose labour supplies Europe's food markets, but whose living and working conditions often remain unseen.

During this lecture, Hornstra shares photographs, encounters and stories from the project. He discusses the connections between migration, pollution and the human cost of intensive food production. The work forms part of The Europeans, their long-term portrait of contemporary Europe.
