Nico Brons explores the boundaries between human creativity, photography and AI imagery, and how a good prompt starts with an idea.

Artificial intelligence is developing rapidly and can produce text, designs and images. Nico Brons considers how these developments relate to people and the things we make. The talk covers four themes: AI and humans, AI and photography, AI and art, and writing an effective prompt.
What does AI do well, where are its limitations, and what remains distinctly human? Creativity, emotion, experience and intuition provide a starting point for discussing machines’ capabilities. Brons also examines the boundary between photography and AI imagery: an image may resemble a photograph even though no camera was used and the depicted moment never existed.
Can a computer make art, or is AI primarily a tool for human creativity? Who should be considered the author? Finally, Brons discusses prompting. A clear idea and a precise description of what you want to communicate are the foundations of an interesting result.
