The Artist's Portrait as Self-Portrait – Gert Jan van Rooij
Gert Jan van Rooij portrays the artists behind the artworks. Together, his photographs capture a generation working in the Netherlands.

Gert Jan van Rooij photographs artworks in museums, studios and galleries. Over the years, he also made portraits of their creators alongside these commissions. Invited by ARTTRA, he selected a group of these images for this exhibition.
The title suggests that a portrait also reveals something about the person making it. Van Rooij explores how people recognise and mirror themselves in others.
