Cynthia Boll explores how she turns climate change and social issues into compelling visual stories about people.

Cynthia Boll is a documentary photographer and filmmaker focusing on urgent climate and social issues. Her visual storytelling puts the human impact of wider societal challenges first. She explores climate change, land subsidence and social inequality, often working with scientists, local communities and data specialists.
Through Sinking Cities, she investigates what it means to live in cities that are sinking, documenting the consequences for residents, infrastructure and society. In this talk, she shares her approach to visual storytelling and turning complex subjects into relatable human stories.
Her work is published and exhibited internationally. Her awards include the Zilveren Camera 2018 and the Canon Female Photojournalist Grant 2024. As a regular judge on the Dutch television programme Het Perfecte Plaatje, she also reaches a broad audience.
This talk is part of Fotokring Eemland’s 90th anniversary programme. Everyone with an interest in photography is welcome. Admission is free; advance registration with the organiser is required.
